MEMBERSHIP INCREASES'

The provincial report ci the League Df Mothers shows a gratifying extension both in numbers and in work. There are. now 3755 members, an .increase of 737 in the year, nearly 300 more than was shown in the previous year, and of these 1100 take the magazine. Special mention is ■ made of Hataitai, which has 212 members, and which is 100 per cent, financial. The good work of Miss M. E. Richmond in connection with the magazine is mentioned; also her work- for .the lighthouse branch, a most interesting work which she has carried out extremely well. Special -mention, is made of the branch choirs, which .provide delightful entertainment, and keep.the joy of good music going-.in many homes.

Reviewing the work of the -ten years which have elapsed since • the inception of the League .of Mothers iby Lady Alice Fergusson, it is stated that a great deal has been done, and the ideals of the founder-have-been kept well in mind.

Sympathetic" reference ■ is.'.■■ made' of the death of the late Mrs. Ena Dawson, who held several offices, both provincial and Dominion, and whose fine efforts were of great assistance in building lip the league. The death of Mrs. W. A. Tate (for nine years president of the Greytdwn branch) is mentioned with sincere regret and appreciation of her help. . The retirement of Lady Elliott as Dominion president is recorded with cordial appreciation of her work, and also the election of Mrs. Charles White in : her.place. Special tribute is paid ,also to the work of Mrs. H. W. Kersley, provincial president, who has carried out some very fine organising activities. . Thanks are given to the kind people who have spared time to ' give addresses at many meetings,', ,to\ the Y.W.C.A., and to the Press., ; ' . The annual meeting will be'held at the Blue Triangle Hall on Friday, when Lady Elliott-and Miss M. Richmond will be the speakers. 't
