MINOR CITY WORKS
The City Council has approved the work of removing encroachments at the top of Hawker Street at an estimated cost of £"/50, subject to the property owners concerned contributing £2OO, such contribution to be refunded if the work is not commenced within two years. ' Improvements will be undertaken to a high level path at Waipapa Terrace, provided that the owners contribute half the cost of the work, which is estimated at £260. . The completion of the high level .path at Hornsey Road is to be put in hand as soon as possible.
The library department acknowledges with thanks the gift, of historical books, documents, and photographs from the Early Settlers'' Association. A letter, of thanks is being sent by the City Council to Mr: B. Sutherland for the gift of birds to the Newtown Zoo. The request of the Grocers' Industrial Union of Employers for an increase in the rate of commission payable to agents for the sale of milk tokens has been declined.
