HEALTH CAMP FUND
A very euchre party and dance was held in the Brooklyn Boy Scout Hall last Monday on behalf of the Otaki Health Camp Fund. The hall was packed,, and a very enjoyable evening was spent by all, after which supper was provided. Mr. R. A. Wright, M.P. for the district, was present, and in a happy speech commended the ladies on their splendid cooking, stating that he entirely disagreed with the Mayor in his remarks that the ladies of Wellington could not cook properly. Mr. Wright also congratulated the committee on the splendid effort it had made on behalf of the Otaki Health Camp Fund, which was a worthy institution to work for. More than £4 was raised by the effort.
Thanks were tendered to the donor of the prizes, and the Brooklyn Boy Scouts' Hall trustees for the use of the hall, Mr. C. Coad, of the Post and Telegraph Department, and all who kindly donated of assisted. Mr. Wright presented the prizes to the winners as follows:—Ladies' prizes, Mrs. Greathead and ■ Mrs. Morris; men's prizes, Mr. Pinhey and Mr. Appleby. After supper dancing continued until midnight, Mr. Baker kindly accompanying, with Mr. R. Johns as M.C, The committee responsible were Mesdames Wigston, Callow, Badland, Moncrieff, Pell; Porte'ous, Pledger, and -Keenan, and Messrs. .Wigston, Badland, and Cowie*- :
