PARLIAMENTARY DELEGATE
REV. C. L. CARR CHOSEN
The Rev. C. L. Carr, Government member for Timaru, and National President of the Labour Party, has been selected by the New Zealand branch of the Empire Parliamentary Association to represent the branch at the centenary celebrations to be held in South Australia from December 22 to December 31 next. He was selected at the annual meeting of the association last night. ■''■■.■.■ An invitation to the New Zealand branch to nominate one delegate was received from the Premier of South Australia, the Hon. R. L. Butler, M.P., on behalf of his Government and the branch of the association in that State. Invitations have also been extended to the United Kingdom branch to nominate three delegates, including one from Northern Ireland, and also to the branches in Canada, the Union of South Africa, Irish Free State, India, and Ceylon to nominate one representative- each. All expenses, including fares, will be paid by the South Australian branch of the association, and delegates will be the guests of the State during their visit there. They will also be officially entertained in the other Australian States they may visit. ANNUAL MEETING. The annual meeting was presided over by the Speaker of the House of Representatives (the Hon. W. E. Barnard). The following officers were elected: — Presidents, the Speaker of the Legislative Council (the Hon. Sir Walter Carncross) and Mr. Barnard; vice-pre-sidents, the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage), the Leader of the Legislative Council (the Hon. M. Fagan), the Leader of the Opposition (the Rt. Hon. G. W. Forbes), the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, M,P., the Hon. R. Masters, M.L.C., and the Hon. Sir James Allen, M.L.C.; treasurer;.. the, Hon. W. W. Snodgrass, M.L.C.; auditors, Mr W. J. Lyon, M.P., and the Hon. W Percy, M.L.C.; secretary, the Clerk of Parliaments* Mr. C. M. Bothamley; executive committee, the Hon. Sir Heaton Rhodes, M.L.C.,. the Hon. J. Cotter, M.L.C., the Hon. J. A. Hanan, M.L.C., the Hon. W. H. Mclntyre, the Hon. W. Parry, the Minister of Education (the Hon. P. Fraser), Mr. E. J.
