"HENRY VIII" TRIO.
A famous trio is reunited in the first London Film production to take the floor at the new Denham Studios. Three years ago London Films made screen history with "The Private Life of Henry VIII." Charles Laughton played the King, Elsa Lanchester was Anne of Cleves, and Alexander Korda directed. Now, in "Rembrandt; Laughton plays the title role, with Elsa Lanchester as Hendrickje Stoffels, a country girl from Zeeland. Gertrude Lawrence has also been signed. Alexander Korda is making one of his rare appearances as director. The third of Denham's seven stages so far completed is being occupied by the production. It shows ■ the Consistory Court at Amsterdam sitting to try the case of Hendrickje Stoffels (Elsa Lanchester). an appealing figure in sombre, seventeenth-century Dutch dress. Rene Hubert, London Films's costume designer, is ■ responsible for the dresses of this production, and the one worn by Elsa Lanchester in this scene was a faithful reproduction from one of Rembrandt's old masterpieces, now an a museum.
