TRAFFIC OFFENCES

Offences against the traffic regulations were dealt with- in the Magistrate's Court today by Mr. Raymond Ferner, S.M. Mr. A. R. Cooper appeared for the Wellington City Council. Driving his car at excessive speed on Jervois Quay on August 27 cost Wilfred Marchant £1 and costs. His speed was 36 m.p.h. For driving a car on July 31 on the Main Road, Karori, at a speed which might have been dangerous Eric Gaskin was. fined £1 and costs. His speed was estimated at 35 m.p.h. Pleading guilty to driving a motorcar on the Hutt Road on August 21 at a soeed which might have been dangerous, Arthur Allan Dodd was fined £2 and costs. Mr. Cooper said that the speed of the car was between 55 and 60 m.p.h. ~ Pleading guilty to a charge of negligently driving a motor-lorry in the Mount Victoria traffic tunnel on August 17, John Condren was convicted and fined 10s and costs. For committing a breach of the parking regulations George Reginald Conyngham. ■ Samuel Hirst, and Basil McCarty were each convicted and ordered to pay costs. Fines, of 10s and costs each were imposed on Harold Homer, Robert Archibald, Gwenyth Bell, Jack Heathercote Duncan, Stewart Fernandez, Cecil Johnston, Alice Lauder, Roy Ernest Messenger, Clifford Pearce, and John Wilkinson.

Bert Whellan was fined 10s and costs for cleaning his car on a street.
