AMATEUR ATHLETICS
FOOTBALL SPORTS CLUB
The opportunity afforded of spending a certain amount of the increased leisure that had come about as a result of the shorter working week by participation in amateur athletics was mentioned by the president, Mr. A. W. O. Travers, at the annual meeting of the Athletic Football Sports Club last night. Mr. Travers said he knew of nothing better than good, clean amateur sport; The report stated that under extraordinary circumstances the club last year had come out fairly well, and it was anticipated that with the hearty co-operation of officers and members the forthcoming year would be a good one. The club, being of long standing, should appeal to young people wishing to take up athletics. The bal-ance-sheet showed a credit at the end of the year of £8 ss, which was considered very favourable.
Five new members were elected, and reference was made in the report to the fact that as a result of an interview with the Athletic Rugby Club it was hoped that several members of that club would join this year.
. It was decided to send a letter of thanks and appreciation to Miss P. Resnick, the Athletic Club and Wellington Harriers Club candidate in the Wellington Centre queen carnival.
