SOME PRIZE BABIES

Prams and go-carts, as well as many delightful little entrants in their mother's arms, were' the order of the afternoon at the Dutch Fair at the Town Hall yesterday, and those present (as well as the proud mothers) were charmed with the appearance' of the children, who were a credit to their parentage and country. The behaviour, too, was excellent, and the small ones gazed around with interest on all the proceedings. The centre.of the hall waij cleared for the little,ones, and each had the full .consideration of the judges. These were Sister E. Julius, Nurse. Maud Sexton, and Mrs. Gilbert Clark," under the direction of Mrs. Annie Me* Vicar (who has officiated at tjie baby shows in connection with similar fairs for the past 16 years.

One section which aroused considerable interest was that for twins. Here children of all ages under, two years were eligible to enter, and quite a group was gathered, with tiny twins in the arms of their mother, or the larger ones with a guardian each.

Mrs. Fielden Taylor presented the prizes to the winners in each section, these being as follows:—

Girls, under six months: Doris Smith 1, Beverley Merrilees 2. Boys, under six months: John Hollis 1, Leslie Morgan 2. Girls, six to 12 months: Judith Tresidder 1, Shirley Lowry 2.

Boys, six to 12 months: Kelvin Mowtell 1, Anthony Ancell 2.

Girls, 12 to 18 months: Barbara Watson 1, Meryln Wingfield 2. ' Boys, 12 to 18 months: Brian. Newport 1, Neil Gordon 2. . Girls, 18 to 20 months: Dorothy Ann Porter 1, Beverley Mills and Pamela Wallis equal 2.

Boys, 18 to 20 months: Graham Wyatt 1, Malcolm Cubitt 2.

Twin girls: Elaine and Ethne Wallis. •

Twin -boys: Dudley and Leslie Franks. '

Twin boy and girl: Donald . and Margaret Robinson. ; • •

Twin specials: Donald and lan Henderson. '

This afternoon there was a large'attendance at the jumble sale. The; talk on "Mothercraft" by Nurse Vida McLane, of the Plunket Society, was very instructive and interesting. .'"",-

This evening Herbert F. Wood's Concert Party and the Port Nicholson Silver Band will contribute the musical programme.
