MARTIAL LAW

EXTENSION IN RUMANIA

(Received September 16, 10 a.m.) BUCHAREST, September 15. Martial law and the censorship imposed at the time of Dr. Duca's assassination have been extended for six months.

Dr. lon Duca, Prime Minister of Rumania, was murdered at Sinaia railway station when awaiting a train to Bucharest on December 29, 1933. His assassin was a member of the Fascist organisation, the Iron Guard, and the crime followed the dissolution of the Iron Guard. Fifty members of the organisation were brought to trial and three were found guilty and sentenced to imprisonment for life. Martial law, proclaimed later, has been extended from time to time since then.
