Danish Home Methods. Home science and farming, are considered as among the "fine arts," in Denmark, according to a recent lecturer on these subjects. It was stated-that the housewife was required to manage her home just as efficiently as her husband managed his farm, and !each in their different directions received instruction how to make the best of land and home. Rich and poor, independent and national, all the women belonged" to the House Mothers' Association, and thus made it a powerful thing in the country with sufficient money "to help the less-well-off people, who, otherwise, might not be able to attend the courses of instruction. The girls :had a course of home science at the primary schools, and then took a course in home management generally to perfect themr selves in either doing or directing households. If well off, the mothers had special tutors for their girls, and others could obtain instruction from the tutors paid for out of association dues. These.were always at hand at different seasons, -when, the .various "kindly fruits-of the earth" were to be stored up. r . These tutors also kept themselves apprised; of. changes in prices, and in all,\ttie housewives and their families "were able to get a great deal Of valuable help both in making and buying.
