DUKE'S DEATH
CRASH IN MOTOR RACE
CAR BURSTS INTO FLAMES

The Duke of Grafton, a keen motorist, was. competing in the Limerick International Grand Prix when his car skidded, crashed into a wall, rebounded, and burst into flames.
The duke, whose clothes were burnt off, died in hospital. ' |
He was the first Duke of Grafton in 200 years to celebrate his twenty-first birthday as duke. '
The Duke of t Grafton, the ninth holder of that title, was born in August, 1914, and was' a son of Viscount Ipswich, who died in 1918. He succeeded his grandfather in 1930, and held also various Earldoms and Viscountcies as well as the Barony of Sudbury, which goes back to 1672. He was Hereditary Ranger of Whittlebury Forest and Hereditary Gamekeeper of Newmarket. The title now goes to a
