CHECKING CAR THEFTS
(To the Editor.)
Sir, —I see that Mr. Semple is going to have inspectors on the road to test tha lamps and brakes of motor vehicles. I think that is a good thing. As one that had a car stolen nearly three years ago and have never seen it since, I would like to suggest that the Minister also, give the inspectors the right to inspect the engine and chassis numbers. The inspectors could be supplied with the list and particulars of stolen cars, and'it might check the practice of car conversion. Also, if the background of number-plates for each district was a different colour this would, I think, help.—l am, etc.,
WORKER.
