AUCKLAND SIRES' LIST

The feature of the sires' statistics for the- Auckland and provincial trotting season is the success achieved by Australian-bred stallions, whose progeny won 30 races and £3770, says "Abaydos."

Blue Mountain King, with 20 wins, was the chief contributor, the others being Man o' W,ar, three; Don Pronto and Pedro Pronto, two; Machine Brick, Auto Machine, and First Fashion. Pedro Pronto is a son of Don Pronto and Machine Brick sired Auto Machine.

Blue Mountain King, who was by the New Zealand-bred Ribbonwood from Don S., was represented by Bonny Azure, eight wins; King's Warrior, five; King's Guide, three; Munga Tangi. two; King's Knight and. Bedford, and their earnings .totalled. £2345. Ribbonwood. ' sire of Blue Mountain King, and who took a 2min 9sec mile record over 30 years ago, was by Wildwood from Dolly, by Young Irvington, from a thoroughbred mare. Blue Mountain King, who did his early racing for ,G. H. Phipps, ran good races, including the Auckland Cup, for McKendrick brothers, who were unlucky to lose such a sire. Man o' War, one of the best pacers imported from Australia, won two Auckland Cups. He was represented by War Paint, who won three races in succession. Man o' War has produced a large number of winners, the greatest of whom is Wai; Buoy, who has not missed a place in four- seasons.
