ROBBERY CHARGE

MAN ACQUITTED OF MANSLAUGHTER

PERTH, July 15. Cyril Thomas Brennan has been acquitted of manslaughter arising out of the death of Edgar Whitfield, night caretaker employed by Caris Bros., jewellers, of Perth, who was found during the night of February 5, 1935, at the rear of the shop, while diamonds valued at £4000 or £5000 were missing from the safe. The High Court had .'.ordered a new trial in Brennan's case.

Two other- men originally convicted with Brennan received long terms of imprisonment for manslaughter.

Brennan has now been charged with complicity in the robbery of £5000 worth of diamonds from Caris Bros, on February 5, 1935, when the caretaker was killed.
