GRAFTON BRIDGE

REPLACEMENT OF SPANS

AUCKLAND.JuIy 14.

Application is to be made'by the Auckland City Council to the Local Government Loans Board for authority to raise £25,000 for the reconstruction of the approach spans of Grafton Bridge.

In commenting on the matter the chairman of the council's works committee, Mr. Arthur Rosser, said advice had been received from the acting En-gineei>in-Chief of the Public Works Department, Wellington, that the proposals of the City Engineer, Mr. A. Tyler, had been carefully examined by the Public. Works' Department,- which would recommend. them for the approval of the Local Government Loans Board. The Engineer-in-Chief said he was quite satisfied the approach spans were. in a dangerous condition and should be reconstructed without delay.
