SMALLER QUANTITIES
FROZEN MEAT SHIPMENTS
Except for pork New Zealand lias shipped smaller quantities of all classes of meat overseas this season than during the corresponding period in 1934-35. In spile of an increase in the amount of chilled, the quantity of beef is substantially lower than last season. Mutton is lower by about 190,000 carcasses, and lamb is down by " over 1,000,000 carcasses. The New Zealand Meat Producers' Board's figures for the period' from October 1, 1935, to June 30, 1936, with those for the corresponding period last season in parentheses, are:— Chilled beef, quarters, 112,109 (49,297); frozen beef, quarters, 148,223 (288,900); mutton, carcasses, 1,325,442 (1,517,839); lamb, carcasses, 6,474,892 (7,494,924); pork, carcasses, 464,550 (453,020); boneless beef, bags, 153,821 (206,471).
Practically the whole of the above quantities went to the United Kingdom, except that 200 quarters of beef and 100 carcasses of lamb went to Canada; and 1224 quarters of beef, 1343 carcasses of Jamb, and 1105 fat carcasses of boneless beef to Japan. Killings for export during the same periods are given below: —
