COMPENSATION LAW
TO BE AMENDED
The fixing of a minimum rate of compensation under the Workers' Compensation Act will probably be provided for in legislation to be introduced into Parliament at an early date. The Minister of Labour (the Hon. H. T. Armstrong) has a Bill already drafted which drastically overhauls the compensation law, but-he stated today that in all probability the measure will not be dealt with in the coming session. He contemplated introducing a small Bill, an important feature of which.would be the fixing of a minimum rate of compensation. It would probably also give the Government authority to establish, if necessary, a special Court to deal with compensation cases.
