RENEWAL IN CHINA
NERVOUSNESS AT CANTON
POSSIBLE ATTACK
United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright NANKING, July 14. The threat of civil war has been renewed as the result of the supersession of General Chen Chi-tang. Two divisions of Kwansi troops are reported to be proceeding to support him against the northern Government,' whose nominee, General Yu Han-mu,' may have to fight his way to his command.
Two torpedo boats have arrived at Hong Kong, having deserted from Canton.
The authorities at Canton are feverishly placing the town in a state of defence. All available troops are being rushed up to meet a possible attack by the northern forces.
