NAZI PRISONS
CONDITIONS DESCRIBED
"ALL GENTLEMEN IN GAOL*
LONDON, July 13,
Conditions in which Nazi prisoners live were described by an Austrian, Dr. Robert Rohme, who was released from Frankfort prison after 14 months; and who broke down when reunited with his English wife and two young daughters at Dover.
Dr. Rohme" was sentenced1 to IS months' imprisonment .for "grossly insulting remarks" about Herr HitleK and the German Government.
"The food is uneatable; it is mostly rotten potatoes with also four ounces o< black bread daily," he said. "Convicts' are permitted to have a visitor once in six months. The greater pari of my inn prisonment was without conversation because talk was forbidden ' undes oain of more rigorous confinement and a diet of bread and water. If you want to find a, gentleman in Germany today you have to ,go to the prisons because all the gentlemen are there,"
