OPENING RECEPTION
MANY GUESTS ATTEND
The desire for knowledge of other countries and their peop-.j is spreading rapidly today,5 and if circumstances prevent one from travelling, the next best thing is to meet those who do travel. Doubtless, it was this growing awareness of the rest of the world which drew nearly 200 people to the reception given by the Wellington Travel Club at the St. George Hotel last evening, when a party of American teachers from Hawaii were the guests of honour. This, was an auspicious event, for it marked the official opening of the newly-formed club.
The Palm Lounge was cosily arranged to accommodate the large number lof guests, mandarin shaded Iceland ' poppies, and orange lamps making cheerful splashes of colour against the green, mirrored palms.
