The issue of a pamphlet on the works of Katherine Mansiield marks another contribution by the Auckland University College to New Zealand literature (states the "New Zealand Herald"). Professor Sewell, of the Auckland University staff, has published, in pamphlet form, a revised and enlarged version of his lecture on Katherine Mansfield delivered in May as one of a series marking New Zealand Authors' Week. It is an attempt to set down a deliberate and careful appraisement of the merits of Katherine Mansfield's literary work, without regard to the personal background of her life. The author believes that Katherine Mansfield is one of the greatest of the users of words. It is obvious that her merits are neither widely known to nor fuliy appreciated by New Zealanders, and this essay may be regarded as a serious attempt to reach a wider public than had the opportunity to listen, during Authors' Week, to Professor Sewell's lecture on the subject. r ■
