MR. T. N. BAKER
Mr. Thomas Norris Baker, formerly, a dentist in Christchurch, but later in business with his brother in a.land and estate agency, died in. Wellington Hospital on Saturday. <
From Christchurch, where he. had been president of the Competitions Society, Mr. Baker went to Auckland where he constructed large fruit cool stores, but lost considerable capital in the venture. Coming to Wellington, he again entered the land and estate business, and became well known in the city. Here he took a keen interest in the Competitions Society, being president in 1931. He retired from active business life in 1933. Although he had never' been in the East, Mr., Baker spoke Chinese fluently, having seriously studied the language, and was at one' time secretary of the Chinese Masonic Society. He is survived by a widow and two sons, both of Wellington. The funeral took place today.
