MRS. E. H. BAIRD

Widespread regret will be felt at the death of Mrs. Ellen Hapgood Baird, which occurred at her residence, 1 Cambridge Terrace, last evening. The late Mrs. Baird,; who was in her 86th year, was the-eldest daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Mace, Brammerton, and had . resided in the Masterton district: for : ;many years. Her husband predeceased her some years ago. Although she lived a quiet, retiring life, the late Mrs. Baird was of a particularly ■: kindly and generous nature and her fine personal qualities endeared her to a host of friends, who will regret to learn of her death and ~ will extend deep sympathy to the relatives. At all times she was only,too willing:to help' those in need and shev performed an immense amount of good work in a quiet, unostentatimis - mariner. : The late Mrs. Baird is survived'by, four sons,. Messrs. G. W. Baird (Nelson), S. M. Baird (Masterton), W. G. Baird (Masterton), K. M. Baird (Raetihi), and four daughters, Mesdames N. F. Moore (Wanganui), C. J. Bennett (Masterton), A. D. McMaster!
