EFFECTS IN CANADA
600 DEATHS IN ONTARIO
(Received July 14, 2.35 p.m.) TORONTO, July 13. Deaths throughout Ontario in the worst six-day heat-wave in the history of the province, mov-'id to 600 today, including 150 drown, js. Toronto undertakers are using old equipment and additional grave-dig-gers, with hearses brought in from nearby towns.
The Provincial Agriculture Department has announced that the heat, damage in the garden industry, including the Niagara grape belt, will total millions of dollars. A new heat record for Manitoba was set up at Emerson, with 112 degrees Fahrenheit.
Rain lias brought respite to the crops in Alberta and Saskatchewan.
