In a Parliamentary answer regarding the conference at Montreux on the Straits regime, the Prime Minister said that in the opinion of his Majesty's Government there was no reason why a speedy conclusion of a new Straits Convention need be prejudiced in any way by unilateral and provisional assurances recently given by Great Britain to certain Mediterranean Powers.
