RETURNS AND REPORTS

Alexander Mines reports for June as follows:—No. 4 intermediate winze sunk to 35ft on lode varying in width from 3 to sft. In bottom is a fine body of ore with only eastern wall showing. No. 5 level rise: Rise started from north level on lode" and put up 31ft, leaving about 14ft to make a connection with above winze. Rise has followed reef from 3 to sft in width of clean solid ore. When the connection is made with winze, a considerable quantity of ore will be available for stoping above No. 5 level. No. 5 north level: Driving continued, position of face being now 211 ft north'of main crosscut. At 154 ft in, stone 2ft wide came in. and has been driven on 57ft. Face shows reef 4ft wide in centre, and 3ft wide in back. Stone is going strong underfoot with fine gold showing freely in stone. Stoping carried on in intermediate backs, the lode in all stoping faces maintaining its width. For the month 355 tons ore sent to battery and 351 tons crushed for return of 188oz 17dwt melted gold. Cyanide department treated 236 tons of sands for 430z 9dwt bullion. The total estimated value of this return is £1530. In addition 9.3 tons concentrates been saved, valued at £240. In estimating the above values gold has been taken at 140s per fine oz. , KING SOLOMON. The return at King Solomon Mine this week was 270z lldwt, states an Invercargill Press Association message. Worksqp Extended Gold Dredging Co. official return for week ended July 9 is as follows:—Yield, 38oz; hours dredged, 136; yardage treated, 10,500. ARGO GOLD. Argo Gold Dredging pays a dividend (No. 3) of Id per share (free, of income tax). This dividend represents a distribution of £2000 to shareholders, and the sum of £200 has been placed to general reserve.
