STEAM FRESHENER
Clothes, like faces, can often be renewed with a little steam treatment, states an exchange. When artificial flower trimmings, such as are used on frocks and hats, require freshening, they should be detached if possible, lightly brushed to remove dust, and then hold for a few minutes in the steam from a boiling kettle. When the flowers have softened slightly they should be gently shaken, then pressed into shape again,, and left to dry.
Velvet frocks or coats that have become creased may also be treated with steam. If the pile is badly crushed in places, those parts should be held in hot steam until they are moistened. They should then be dried slowly.
If only a general freshening is required, the garments may be hung in a warm steamy atmosphere for half an hour op so and then taken into a dry airy room. The pile will rise gradually as the velvet becomes dry.
