THE KING'S BIRTHDAY
EVENTS AT WANCANUI
The citizens of Wanganui have set out to make Wanganui an attraction for the long weekend from Saturday next, June 20, to Tuesday. June 23, the King's Birthday. The Wanganui River is well known for its scenic beauties, and no doubt' much interest will bo found in a trip on the river during winter.
Sporting events will play an important part in the celebrations. Saturday will sec the opening of the Wanganui Jockey Club's Winter. Meeting, one of the season's important racing events. The King's Birthday, Tuesday, will be celebrated by the interprovincial football match, Wanganui v. Manawatu, in the mcfrning, and this will be immediately followed by the second day's events of the Wanganui races. A ticket for 2s 6d will enable patrons to enjoy both the football and the races. The Wanganui Jockey Club, the Wanganui Rugby Union, several hotels, and a number of business houses of Wanganui have combined in a full-page announcement on page 5 of this issue.
