A DOUBLE COLLISION
ADELAIDE ROAD MISHAP
Fourteen people and three motorvehicles were involved in a spectacular series of collisions which occurred about 3 a.m; on Sunday in front of the Wellington municipal golf links behind Athletic Park. The second accident resulted in two women receiving injuries which necessitated their removal to hospital by the Wellington Free Ambulance.
At about 2.50 a.m. a light lorry driven by Edward J. Thompson, a fruiterer, of 86 Kilbimie Crescent, and containing four passengers, was travelling south along Adelaide Road when it collided with a private car containing four persons and driven by Miss Barbara Blundell, of Heretaunga. No one was injured, though both vehicles were considerably damaged. ,
About half an hour after the. first accident, the vehicles being still on the road and a constable being engaged in interrogating the drivers, a taxi driven by Charles Smith, of Black and White Cabs, Ltd., and carrying four passengers, crashed into the front of the lorry.
Two women sitting in the cab of the lorry were injured. Miss J. Myers, of 515 Adelaide Road, had her left knee injured and suffered shock, and Mrs. H. Dawson, of 382 The Esplanade. Island Bay, sustained a severe cut in the left arm and a cut on the forehead.
