! WITNESS TO CHRISTIAN THINGS Preaching at St Barnabas' Anglican Church, Rosen eath, to a very large congregation last, night, the Bishop of Melanesia/the Bt Rev. Dr. Baddeley, referred to the great influence lor good that a Christian life meant in a community, and pointed out what a silent witness the church building itself was. The bishop mentioned that during his. recent tour of England he had preached in churches that had stood for eight and nine hundred years, witnessing down the centuries to the things of Christ, while dynasties and Parliaments had come and passed away. He referred to the splendid work being done in Melanesia, and remarked that any person who did not believe in missions could not claim to be a true follower of Christ. Yesterday being the patronal festival of St. Barnabas' Church, there were celebrations of the Holy Communion at 6.45 ajn. and 10.30 a.m. At the latter service the members of the Mothers' Union made a corporate Communion, followed by a service of admission for new members. The service last night was conducted by the vicar, the Rev. E. M. McLevie, assisted by the Revs. H. E. K. Fry, W. J. Durrad, and H, S. Kenney. His Lordship Bishop Sprott pronounced the blessing. The patronal festival will be continued next Sunday when the preacher at evensong will be the Rev. Canon Percival James.
