THE CENTRAL HOTEL. After conferring with the other mem. bers of the committee, the chairman (Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M.), said that if the circumstances - had been just a little different the committee would have felt justified in refusing Elizabeth Quinn a renewal of her licence for the Central Hotel. The record of this hotel, he added, was. among the worst placed before the committee. There had been convictions against the licensee, the barmen, and a number of persons had been found on tha premises after hours. * Mr. J. A. Scott said that the trouble had been due largely to the fact that the licensee had suffered rather severely during the past twelve months from ill health, and had«had to leave tha conduct of the hotel a good deal in. the hands of servants. The licensee, however, had given the assurance that a new and proper system would be adopted and that she herself would retain all access to the liquor portions of the house during closing hours. Tha hotel was not likely to be in exist ence very much longer:

Associated with Mr. Mosley on' the Bench were Messrs. R. Darroch, W. I. Clark, A. Longmore, W. H. Denton, and F. P. Walsh.

Inspector G. B. Edwards appeared for the Police Department,' and the Fire Brigade was represented by the deputy superintendent, Mr. J. J. Creeke.

At the conclusion of the sitting; which occupied the whole of the afternoon, Mr. Mosley thanked tha police and Fire Brigade for their de* tailed work and reports to the cc-Ok mittee.
