RECORD ATTENDANCES (By Tuli'grapli—Press Association.) HAMILTON, This Day.
With glorious weather prevailing throughout, the gate takings for the first six clays of the Waikato Winter Show are £073 ahead of the figures for the same period last year and the show executive anticipates that the total takings will reach' £3000 by tomorrow night when the show closes. Public support this year exceeds all previous records.
WELLINGTON BEGIMENT
LOWER HUTT ASSOCIATION
The annual general meeting of the Lower' Hutt Association of the Wellington Regiment was held recently in the Council Chambers, Lower Hutt, In the absence of the president, Mr. J. W. Andrews, Captain Wells presided. The annual report and balance-sheet were read and adopted, Captain Wells thanked the association for providing the bus for transport of members of the company attending the Armistice Day parade, also for a donation for the purchase of crockery, and the prize for the member of the company who was responsible for bringing in the largest number of recruits to the Hutt Valley Company during the year. The prize, which took the form of an order for goods on a local shopkeeper, went to Sergeant A. Irwin. A shell-case trophy was on exhibition at the meeting, and was much admired. . Captain Wells reported that Lieut.Colonel Saunders was shortly retiring,! and would probably be farewelled at the officers' annual mess dinner, It was unanimously agreed that Lieut.Colonel Butcher represent the association at the function. . The election of officers resulted:— President, Mr, J. W. Andrews, Mayor (as provided for in the rules); vicepresidents, Sir Alexander Roberts, K.8.E.. Dr. F. E, Bolt, Dr. A. F. Hickey. Councillor C. J. Ashton, Councillor J. Mitchell, Messrs. J, M. Carlson, D. A. Ewen, N. B. Gibbons, W. Smith; committee, Mrs. F. E. Joyce, Lieut-Colonel C. E. Butcher. LieutColonel Saunders (subject .to his acceptance of office). Captain McNaught. Captain Wells, Mr, A. Crier* son. Mr. M. C. Redmond; lion, secretary, Mr. K. R. Soward: hon. treasurer, Mr C. M. Hill; hon, auditor, Mr. V. L. Phillips. . . ~ A vote of thanks was passed to the secretary and treasurer for their work during the past three years, and to Mr, Phillips for. his services during the past year.
