OBITUARY
SENATOR WILLIAM CARROLL
(Received June 1, 10.30 a.m.) j SYDNEY, This Day. ] The death has occurred of Senator William Carroll. Senator Carroll was born in 1872 &t Garvoc, Victoria, and took to farming. He was a member, and subsequently secretary, of the council of the Primary Producers' Association of Western Australia, and for some time was M.L.C. for East Province, Western Australia. Since 1925 he has be?n a member of the Senate at Canberra for Western Australia in the interests of the Country Party. COL. SIR PERCIVAL DARLING, V.C. (British Official WU*tess.) (Received June 1, 11 ajn.) • * RUGBY, May 30. The death occurred at his Gloucestershire home this morning of Colonel Sir Percival Darling, aged 75, the oldest holder of the Victoria Cross, which he won as a lieutenant for rescuing a private soldier under heavy fire at Tamanib 52 years ago.
