RONGOTAI COLLEGE
A number of the parentis of Rongotai College boys spent an enjoyable evening on Sat&rday at a social given by the Parents' Association, in conjunction with the Ladies' Auxiliary. The function was held in the college gymnasium,, which had been effectively decorated with flags and the school colours, black and gold. Games and dancing were alternated in a pleasing fashion, and several novel competitions aroused much enthusiasm. A popular programme of songs, elocution, comedy sketches, and a special dancing item by Miss Noeline Thompson (a pupil of Miss Haire), helped to make the evening pass most pleasantly; each number being thoroughly appreciated. Some good singing was heard, those contributing songs being: Mesdames Halvorsen and Booth, and Messrs. Lacey, Fraser, Histed, and Jennings. A recitation by Mr. Hedley Aitken was warmly applauded. Mr. Booth caused ■ much amusement with a comedy sketch. An excellent supper was served by members of the Ladies' Auxiliary. Competitions were won as follows: — autograph, Mrs. Collins; newspaper dressing, Mrs. Collins and Mr. Bell 1, Mrs. Wray and Mr. Cundy, 2. The judges were Messrs J. Heron, J. T. McCaw, and R. H. Fraser. Accompanying music was rendered by Mesdames Heron and Collins, and Mr. J. Todd McCaw. The committee responsible for the success of the social consisted of Mesdames L. G. Brown, Heron, Bell, Boyle, Bruce, Keir, Leith, McKaneWallace, Browman, and Rae, and Messrs. L. G. Brown (president), Cozens (M.C.), Morton, Tomlinson, McLennan, Collins, Leith, Smith, Cundy, and Bell.
