HOTEL BATHS

MODERN REQUIREMENTS The fact that baths and bathrooms in hotels have passed the inspection test for years does not necessarily mean that they will be regarded as suitable for all time. This was made plain by Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M., chairman of the Wellington Licensing Committee, at the annual meeting this afternoon. When asked if the requisition regarding the bathroom accommodation had been attended to, counsel who appeared in support of an application for a renewal of a publican's licence said that there was to be a meeting of owners of the hotel this week to consider the matter. Counsel pointed out that the accommodation today was similar to that which had been provided for many years. Mr. Mosley: I suppose it is similar to what it was 50 years ago, and if that is so I suppose it is hardly up to modern requirements. Counsel said he thought some of the present building was part of the original hotel.

The application was adjourned until later in the. meeting. Similar action was taken in respect of another hotel, the licensee of which had also received a requisition regarding the bathroom.
