THE FORBIDDEN LAND.
Two books dealing with' Tibet— "Through Forbidden Tibet" and: "Nowhere Else in the World"—have recently been published. The former, by Mr. Harrison Forman, is the author's account of how, after his two white companions had been killed by bandits, he lived for two years in this unknown territory. . . The second book, by Mr. Gordon Enders and Mr. Edward Anthony, is written by men who have spent the greater part of their youth in the Tibetan highlands. They, say they learned of political intrigues, in which Russia, England, Japan, and China were concerned, for the exploitation of gold fields; they discussed details with the Lama for the modernisation of the country on "Western lines.
