TRADE AGREEMENTS
POWERS OF MINISTER
AMENDMENT TO BILL
An amendment is to be made to the Primary Products Marketing Bill, at present before Parliament, with the object of empowering the Minister of Marketing, whose position is established under the Bill, to enter into reciprocal trade agreements. The amendment is to be made during the Committee stage of the Bill.
This will follow on the lines of the speech of the Minister of Finance (the Hon. W. Nash), who, when moving the second reading of the Bill, indicated that the Government's first • preference would be for agreements with Great Britain, then the countries in the British Commonwealth of Nations, and after that other countries.
