A FAST IMPROVER
KING'S GUIDE'S PROMISE
King's Guide, who was recently sold at a high figure to a patron of F. J. Smith's stable, is due to make his first appearance in his new colours at the Cambridge Meeting .on Saturday, where he has two engagements. King's Guide showed fine form at the Auckland February Meeting and gained a second and a first placing.
On the first day he paced a splendid race into second position behind Nervie's Last in the Railway Handicap, registering the fast time of 3min 20 1-5 sec. With the winner out of the way on the next day King's Guide made short work of the opposition in the Rangitoto Handicap, finally winning very comfortably by three lengths and a half in 3min 18 2-ssec. He appears to have settled down in his races a good deal more of late and there should be a bright future in front of the son of Blue Mountain King and Guiding Star.
