DARING FRAUD
' Forged betting tickets is the latest fraud ■to be:'practised by swindlers on' Fi-elich.'racecourses. ' Winning tickets have been printed directly 'after the race has been-run and cashed'immediately. ■ Paul Andre/ an ■ unemployed moulder, who was arrested at ' Longchamps on October 27,' while attempting !to casli 'such'forged'tickets, \vas found guilty by the correctional ■ court and sentenced to three months' imprisonment. The fraud, which had been perpetrated at Ldngchamps' for 'several months, was discovered when totahsator officials found an overpayment of thousands 'of francs on' tickets. A similar type of fraud was attempted by an Italian chef. He proved to-be a poor artist, however, and was caught and sentenced to one' months' 'imprisonment and anominal 50-franc fine.
