The girls won in the little town of Clermont-D'Oise, France, -.when th« police attempted, to enforce a Mayoral order forbidding all girls under fifteen from going to public dances. Shortly after dancing began, a policeman'walk* ed'in, and in a severe voice ordered all girls who were noli accompanied by their parents'to leave the hall. • But the. law soon retired under .the jeers of the dancers; "Soon- afterwi^ds the Mayor himself. appeared in the .hall, but no notice v;as taken of him, and the dance .went' on. Now challenges of the legality of the anti-dance decree are pouring into'the'Mayor's office. ... •;
