UNIVERSITY MATCH
The annual cricket match for the Speight Trophy between Victoria University College and Auckland University College was commenced on the Wellington College ground this morning. The match will be continued on Monday. The weather conditions were ideal.
The teams were:—
Victoria University College.—Carey, Fortune, Harpur, Lunn, Knowsley, McMillan, Robertson, Stephenson, Stevens, Wilson, and Wiren. Auckland University College.—Alexander, Fairbrother, Kent, Munro, Obren, Pickmere, Price, Scholium, Steele, Warren, and Wylie.
Auckland took first strike, and at the luncheon adjournment at 12.45 p.m. had scored 133 for nine wickets, Lewis having earned his bat for 67.
Auckland resumed after the luncheon adjournment. Lewis carried his score from 67 to 75, when he was run out. Fairbrother made 1 not out, making the total 142. Details:— AUCKLAND. First Innings. J. D.
