OTAKI'S FIRE-FIGHTERS

(Special to the "Evening Post.")

OTAKI, This Day.

In the twelve months ended March 31 last the Otaki Volunteer Fire Brigade held thirty-three musters, the average attendance being fourteen members, states the annual report compiled by the secretary (Mr. M. H. Larsen). Eight calls were received to outbreaks of fire, this being the largest number since 1932-33, when the total was nine, but this year's fire losses will be much heavier.

The average attendance of members at fires this year was thirteen. The brigade is now at full strength, five new members having joined to fill the vacancies caused by departures from the district, the equipment is all in good order, and most members have received new uniforms.

During the year the following honours were presented:—Five-years medals, Fireman R. Merwood and Secretary Larsen; two-years bars, Superintendent Cockrell, Foreman Bills, and Fireman Stocking.
