AWARD BENEFITS

(To the Editor.)

Sir, —There are rumours that all drivers of trucks will have to join the union. If this is so, I think there will be quite a number who will benefit by it. For instance, I am turned 20 and am driving for a firm in town. My wages are 25s per week. When a man has paid his board out of it there is not much left. I cannot kick against

it, because the firm would sack me and get a younger fellow for less wages; but they do not think: will he do the work I did. A friend of mine has been with one firm on and off for nine years. He started at £2 per week, and he is now .getting 32s 6d. He is 25 years old, and it is a.poor lookout for him. if he wants to get married. The public will see from this why some of the young men of today say they are not getting a fair deal.— I am, etc.,

DRIVER.
