AN EXTRAORDINARY CASE

The "Sun-Herald" news agency says that English and American doctors confirm a report that, following an X-ray examination, a bed was booked in the maternity ward of Singapore General Hospital for Mrs. Koh Thian, a necChinese, who claims to be 105 years of age. The woman became an expectant mother in 1861, but the child was not born, the normal course being inexplicably arrested in about the sixth month. She recently entered the hospital with a fever, and her condition was' then revealed. Specialists who are concentrated on the case suggested an operation, but her relatives demurred. Mrs. Thian's husband is dead. Natives are disturbed, some believing that Buddha is about to be reincarA famous London obstetrician stated that the case is not unique, though rare. The child ceases to grow and becomes what is called lithopaedian.
