ITALIAN MOTOR RACE
USE OF ANTI-SANCTIONS PETROL
REDUCED EFFICIENCY
ROME, April 6.
Using substitute fuel devised as a result of sanctions, and containing 82 per cent, of alcohol, Antonio Brivio, driving an Alfa Romeo, won a 1000 miles road race at Brescia at an average speed of 75.4 miles an hour.
Ordinary drivers, however, are finding that the anti-sanctions substitute petrol, costing 5s 2d a gallon, goes only half as far as imported petrol.
