FIRE AT SCHOOL
TIMELY DISCOVERY
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
DARGAVILLE, This Day.
The Tangiterpria School narrowly escaped destruction by fire yesterday. During the afternoon the children cleared up rubbish which was burnt some distance from the building, but at 5.30 it was discovered that a corner of the school was alight, the fire having travelled along a drain.
By the strenuous efforts of the teacher and residents the flames were subdued. Fortunately there was no wind, otherwise the building would have been destroyed. One room was badly damaged.
