BUT RISING WINDS

Special forecast, for Wellington:— Fresh to. strong: north-westerly winds.

Weather fair and warm.

The general forecast for the Do- ■ minion as a whole,' issued at noon today, is* for moderate north-easterly to north-westerly winds which will become strong in and south of Cook Strait. There will be a change to southerlies tomorrow in the southern half of the South Island. The weather will be fair at first in most districts, but some rain will develop on- the West Coast of the South Island and will extend gradually to districts with a westerly aspect and to the southern portion of the South Island. Temperatures will rise.

With the persistence of an anti.cyclone over and to the east of the Dominion, the weather in most districts has been fine, mild, and pleasant. A slight depression passing in the far south, however, has been responsible for scattered rain in the western and far southern districts of the South Island. Northerly winds, light to moderate in force, have prevailed, but in the Cook Strait area these this morning had increased somewhat in force. ■, ; ' '
