PETONE-HUTT GAS BOARD
The chairman (Mr. W. G. Lodder) presided at the meeting of the Petone and Lower Hutt Gas Lighting Board last evening. '■ The works manager (Mr. C. Shaw) reported that during February 9,264,000 cubic feet of gas was manufactured— an increase of 128,000 cubic feet over the same month of last year and a decrease of 202,000 cubic, feet compared with January of this year. The average make,per.ton was 15,518 cubic feet. • The'secretary and distribution officer (Mr. O. Silbery), in his report.for February, stated that 17 new services, 10 new copkers, one copper, three cahphonts, one hottolate, two. gas'fires, nine gas rings, and. 17 new. meters, were installed. .The number of cookers renewed'was. 14. . ' . ' ','■■-., During February,a main-was extended 36 feet in Nikau Avenue "to give supply to, three houses that had been haying-trouble with 'the gas supply. There had been a'decided improvement lin .pressure.' \ Mr. D.W. Campbell pointed out that this was' th,e ; first- summer the board did not carry-stocks'of coke; all being sold. ■
The Hutt Valley High School wrote thanking the board for the supply of cookers. : ;
In reply to a question, and speaking from'memory, the secretary said that there were approximately 6700 consumers. The number was increasing.,
