COMMENT ON RUMOURS
THE RIGHT HON. J. C. COATES
(By Telegraph—Press Association.)
AUCKLAND, March 10.
"If you ask me about the rumours that are circulating, I will simply say that they may. or may not be true. If you ask me straight out whether I am retiring from politics my reply is that I am still a member of Parliament and I am not the kind that runs away." This was the answer given by the Rt. Hon. J. G: Coates when he was asked whether there was any foundation for the rumours that he intended to abandon political life for a career in business.
These reports, which have been widely circulated in Auckland for some weeks, were mostly to the effect that Mr. Coates was about to accept directorships, executive or otherwise, in various companies. Upon the names of these concerns, however, rumour did not agree.
