DEEMED OFFENSIVE

ALLEGED REMARK BY MAJOR DOUGLAS

INQUIRY BY ALBERTA

(Received February 12, 9.15 a.m.) EDMONTON, ALBERTA, February 11. On demands by the Liberal Leader, Mr. Howson, and the Conservative Leader, Mr. Duggan, a special committee of the Legislature is to probe alleged remarks in London by Major Douglas, which were declared to be oftensive to both the Canadian and the Alberta Governments regarding the proposed Dominion Loan Council.

Major Douglas is alleged to have stated, "If the Provinces allow the remaining autonomies in regard to the most important factor in their Constitution finances to be filched away from them, I have little double that Democracy is doomed."
